How it works
Under 250 g — no exam required
C0 drones can be flown without a certificate, though the A1/A3 is strongly recommended
Under 900 g — A1/A3 required
Free online exam — the entry point for all EU drone pilots
Under 4 kg — A1/A3 + A2 required
The A2 unlocks flying closer to uninvolved people — paid exam + self-training declaration
Under 25 kg — A1/A3 required
Open category subcategory A3 — must fly far from people and residential areas
Under 25 kg — A1/A3 + STS required
Specific category — paid theory exam + practical training with an approved centre
